Burwash Manor’s annual Asparagus Feast is upon us!
Coming up on Saturday, join us for an all-day celebration of asparagus (and other fine local food and drink) with Eat Cambridge sponsor Burwash Manor farm. We are SO thrilled to co-host one of the highlights of the local foodie calendar this weekend. The sun’s out, the asparagus fields are bountiful, and many friends of the farm are on hand to help with the festivities. Bring the whole family and come hungry for this very special annual day of feasting! Read on to find out more and to plan your Asparagus Day 2018…
This year’s Asparagus Feast takes place on Saturday 26 May and we recommend you make a day of it. The farm’s gates open at 10am and the festivities go on until 4pm. If you haven’t visited before, Burwash Manor is a gorgeous foodie haven comprising of a food hall, butcher’s counter, wine merchants, and independent retail units and spa, located just a few miles from Cambridge city centre. The annual celebration of asparagus features bundles of the farm’s locally grown, short-season English asparagus, and involves tastings, cookery demos, street food, and fun for the kids.
There will be local food and drink stalls to explore, including Hibiscus Lily, I’m Real Ice Cream, Asado Sauce, Gourmet Brownie, Manomassa Crisps, and Mons Cheese, plus an excellent selection of local traders to keep you fed and watered. Pick up a fresh seasonal salad box and other veggie delights from allotment cafe; indulge in everyone’s favourite burger from the Steak and Honour wagon; or head to Burwash Manor’s Flock Cafe for one of their awesome pizzas (and more!). The Larder will also have an array of deli items, as always, so you can put together a perfect picnic, and wash it all down with tipples from the on-site wine merchants Cozzi & Boffa or visit the pop-up Moonshine beer bar.
When you’re full to bursting from all that feasting, pop along to the craft tent with the kids to get involved with some farm-themed creations, hop on a tractor ride to see the rest of the farm, or succumb to a spot of face painting and glitter art (well, it is a festival after all!).
Entry to the event is FREE, but you might want to bring some extra cash for the food and drink stalls, and pack a picnic blanket if you fancy an afternoon siesta in the meadow! We’ll see you there…
